This paper deals with the coins minted in Turku (Åbo) and found within the boundaries of present Sweden. The mint of Turku was in action during the reign of Erik of Pomerania (1396-1439), Christopher of Bavaria (1440-1448), Karl Knutsson Bonde (1448-1457, 1464-1465, 1467-1470) and Gustavus I (1523-1560). A material of some 421 coins has been recorded and the distribution of the coins has been analysed. The focus of the study is on the coins minted during the reign of Karl Knutsson Bonde. An attempt to establish an absolute chronology for the denomination of örtug and furthermore to examine the volyme of coinage during the different periods of his reign have been made to see to what extend the coins circulated in Sweden.
