Incoming exchange students

The Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies is one of Stockholm University's profile areas, which means that the department is nationally-leading in research concerning archaeology. At the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies we offer one course at bachelor level and PhD degrees in four different subjects.

7.	The completed Application Package (Application Form, Transcript of Records, Statement of purpose/Motivation Letter)	The completed Application Package sends from you as an exchange student by e-mail vaidilute.bjerregaard@ark.su.se
8.	Letter of Acceptance from the department of Archaeology and Classical Studies	The international coordinator at the department of Archaeology and Classical Studies sends the Letter of Acceptance to you by e-mail

10.	Accommodation offers from the Housing Office at Stockholm University	Stockholm University’s Housing Office accepts and informs you via email about an accommodation offer
11.	The online Learning Agreement between you and your home university	You and the international coordinator at your home university sign the Learning Agreement online on the EWP Dashboard
12.	The completed Learning Agreement with courses you are going to study during your mobility at Stockholm University	The international coordinator at the department of Archaeology and Classical Studies signs your online Learning Agreement within the EWP Dashboard before your arrival to Stockholm

Profile

Academic Calendar	Term dates Examinations are arranged throughout the year with no fixed examination periods. Break during Christmas varies with departments.
Orientation activities	Welcome activities
Language of Instruction	Swedish and English
Full Time Study Load Credits	30 credits. Courses normally contain 7.5, 15 or 30 credits. Students can choose four 7.5 credit courses or two 15 credits courses or any other combination. One week of full-time studies equals 1.5 credits. The workload is 40 hours per week, including lectures, readings, assignments, seminars, independent studies. Nomination	For autumn semester: May 1. For spring semester: October1.
Application	Through e-mail instructions after nomination. All students must have an official nomination from their home university to be eligible for exchange at Stockholm University.
Admission	Via the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies.

Swedish Language Course

Swedish language courses on different levels are offered for free by the Department
of Swedish Language and Multilingualism to all incoming exchange students Swedish for International Students - Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism (su.se)

Information about language courses is given during the Orientation Day in the beginning of each semester.

Registration to Courses

Via the Department which is providing the course.
Registration to the course at Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies takes place in person at the Department on announced day and time

Transcripts of Records

Transcripts of records are sent to the home university approximately one month
after the end of the semester.

Learning Swedish

Why not take the opportunity to learn Swedish while in Sweden? There are several options to consider.

The Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism give courses for International Students.

Swedish for International Students

A more informal way of learning Swedish is to take part in the Language cafe. While having a cup of coffee or tea you speak to native speakers and other learners. The cafes are run by student native speakers on a voluntary basis.

The Swedish Institute give free Swedish courses online. At the same time as learning the language you also get insights into Swedish culture and society.
